Hi my name is Yvonne..and I'm fighting for my life. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in June of 2014 at the age of 38. Right away my doctor put me on high doses of diabetes medication and other medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. She told me to work hard on my diet and take my meds and then sent me on my way. Then in April of 2015 I was rushed to emergency just to find out that I had a kidney stone almost 10cm long. That's almost the same size as my kidney! Thank God the surgery was successful, but it left my kidneys in a weakened state. You can say this is a "damned if you do..damned if you dont" type of situation. If I take all my meds they will kill my kidneys. If I don't take my meds, my diabetes would sky rocket. What do I do?
I started to educate myself. Reading everything I could to change my way of thinking so I could apply it to my everyday rituals. The best plan of attack was to eliminate my diabetes. No diabetes = no medication= healthy kidneys! So the first thing I did was change to a paleo diet and I started hitting the gym. Then for christmas last year I received a fitbit as a gift..and the whole game changed. I was up and outside walking everywhere! It has made all the difference. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels are back to normal. My sugar levels are back to normal..and guess what? I've been medication free since October 2015. Yep, that's right! I'm on my way to reaching my goal and that is the result of all this hard work.
